# Search syntax

> The query: argument on a connection: keys, comparators and values.

A connection's `query:` argument filters it with `key:value` terms. Terms are separated by spaces, and every term must match.

| Term | Matches |
| - | - |
| `statusEnumId:AUT_STAT_SUCCESS` | equal to the value |
| `statusEnumId:AUT_STAT_SUCCESS,AUT_STAT_FAILED` | any of the values |
| `key:>value` | greater than; `>=`, `<` and `<=` work the same way, on keys that allow them |

```

* Each query's page lists the keys it accepts, and which comparators each key takes.
* A value can be wrapped in double quotes; the quotes are removed. A value cannot contain a space.
* The key ends at the first `:`, so a value may contain `:` itself.

| Error code | Cause |
| - | - |
| `MALFORMED_QUERY` | A term is not `key:value` |
| `FIELD_NOT_FILTERABLE` | The key is not one the query accepts |
| `OPERATOR_NOT_ALLOWED` | The comparator is not allowed on that key |
